All this week from 10am-1pm and Saturday 10am-5pm, Navy divers will do SCUBA demonstrations and answer questions about being a Navy diver outside the entrance to the Arizona Science Center.
Yesterday, students from ASU Preparatory Academy watched as Kimberly Carver, Navy Diver Second Class, jumped into the tank and wrote messages with a grease pencil on the tank window and played tic-tac-toe.
In case you didn’t know, it’s Navy Week in Phoenix. Here are some additional acitivities of particular interest to families:
Tuesday, March 27
The Leap Frogs, the Navy’s parachute demonstration team will be parachute into the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Diego Padres baseball game at the Peoria Sports Complex at 1:05pm.
From 5:30 to 7pm, the Destroyers, the Navy Band Southwest’s Contemporary Entertainment Ensemble, will perform a free concert outside of U.S. Airway Center before the Phoenix Suns vs. San Antonio Spurs game.
Sailors will read at Bilingual Family Story Time from 6:15 to 7pm at Burton Barr Central Library, 1221 N. Central Ave in Phoenix.
Wednesday, March 28
Sailors will meet with teens at Harmon Library’s Teen Program at 1325 S. 5th Ave. in Phoenix.
Friday, March 29
From 6 to 8 p.m., the Destroyers will perform at free concert at the Wigwam Resort, 300 E. Wigwam Blvd in Litchfield Park.
Saturday, March 30
Navy Day at Challenger Space Center includes a chance to see the Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team with their equipment. 21170 N. 83rd Ave, Peoria.
