Fans of Phoenix Mercury President and women’s basketball legend Ann Meyers Drysdale are in for a treat at tonight’s game against the Seattle Storm. Meyers Drysdale will be signing copies of her new book, You Let Some Girl Beat You?.
Meyers Drysdale, who is also a vice president with the Phoenix Suns, will sign copies of her book before the game and during halftime. She will be in the Casino Arizona Pavilion at the US Airways Center from 5:30 to 7 p.m. During halftime she will be in the main concourse outside sections 119/120. Fans can purchase the book for $16.95.
The book chronicles Meyers Drysdale’s experiences as a Hall of Fame basketball player and broadcaster.
“The book is about hopes and dreams. I’ve been blessed to be part of so many incredible experiences and I thought it was time to tell my story,” Meyers Drysdale said in a press release. “I hope that the book serves as a reminder to people that anything can be accomplished if you set your mind to it. Plus, releasing the book in conjunction with the celebration of the 40th anniversary of Title IX is a perfect reminder of how far female athletics has come and to honor that I’ll be donating a portion of the book proceeds to Phoenix Mercury Charities.”
The game begins at 7 p.m. For tickets, call 602-252-WNBA or visit the team’s website.
Help an underprivileged child attend a game
Each summer, the Phoenix Mercury basketball team spearheads a community initiative: for every discounted $12 ticket bought, one underprivileged kid can attend a game for free.
Last season, the program sent more than 7,000 kids and their families to Mercury games, says team spokeswoman Shayna Kuper.
Participating is easy. Just visit this Ticketmaster site and pay $12 for one ticket. You need to enter the word “skuper” in the special offer code box to get the discounted price. You also can call 602-514-8341 to purchase tickets. Hurry — the promotion concludes at the end of next week.
