The kids who designed holiday cards for Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s 2012 Art Project must have felt like celebrities yesterday, as Santa Claus himself showed up — along with a respectable cadre of local media — to kick of the year’s fundraiser for The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

The artists, all patients at the hospital, participated in a celebration at Ironwood Lithographers in Tempe, where thousands of large sheets of holiday cards were zipping through a large printing press.

For the young artists battling cancer, it was their first glimpse at the printed result of their creative endeavors.

Holiday cards retail for $10 for 15 cards and will be available for purchase at pchkidsart.com and at all Safeway stores beginning Nov. 1.

The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Phoenix Children’s is the largest provider of hematology and oncology care in Arizona. Phoenix Children’s offer state-of-the-art pediatric cancer management to almost half of Arizona’s children diagnosed with malignancies and/or life-threatening hematologic diseases.
