Fall theater classes for kids

Is your child the class clown? Always on the go? Fond of singing day and night? Prone to playing dress-up? Longing for a career on Broadway? It might be time for theater classes, which are being offered this fall by several Valley studios and theater companies. Here’s a sampling of theater classes, including several that start this month…

Childsplay in Tempe offers classes for ages 4-14. Topics include “triple threat” (singing, dancing and acting), Broadway bound, dinosaur drama, pirate tales and more. Childsplay also has a conservatory program for qualified children and teens. childsplayaz.org.

Christian Youth Theatre – Phoenix offers classes for ages 6-18. Topics include basics of acting, intermediate/advanced musical theater, selections from “Hairspray” and more. cytphoenix.org.

Dearing Acting Studio in Phoenix offers classes for ages 4-18. Topics include commercial improv, comedic monologue, Disney TV and more. dearingstudio.com.

Desert Stages Theatre in Scottsdale offers classes for ages 4-10. Topics include auditions skills, acting, singing and dancing. desertstages.org.

Greasepaint Youtheatre in Scottsdale offers classes for ages 5 & up. Topics include musical theater, dance and “from the page to the stage.” greasepaintyoutheatre.org.

Off-Off Broadway in Phoenix offers classes for 4-15 year olds. Topics include movement, sensory work, voice, dialogue and more. off-offbroadway.com.

Theater Works Youth Works in Peoria offers classes for ages 3-18. Topics include improv/sketch comedy, body/movement, tap dance, stage combat and more. theaterworks.org.

Valley Youth Theatre in Phoenix offers classes for ages 3-17. Topics include improv, musical theater, triple threat, play pretend, audition prep and more. vyt.com.

Theater classes help children and teens make friends, develop new skills, work in teams, grow in confidence and explore new worlds through imagination. Watch local kids’ museums, libraries, community centers and art venues for additional classes with a theater twist.
