Valley schools that offer a performing arts focus

If you have a child with a naturally creative, expressive side, you might want to consider a school that offers strong focus on the performing arts. Here are several public and public charter schools around the Valley that fit the bill:

Arizona Conservatory for Arts and Academics

Charter school for grades K-12. Professional artists and musicians help students hone performing arts skills in voice, drama, dance, visual arts and a variety of music options.

Arizona School for the Arts

Charter school for grades 5-12. Offers a conservatory model for the arts program, which includes ballet, choral arts, instrumental music, piano, and theater arts. Partners include Ballet Arizona and Phoenix Theatre. Students must have at least eight arts credits to graduate; each credit is the result of a year-long course. All arts classes are taught by professional artists with extensive performance experience.

Public school for grades K-8 in the Peoria Elementary School District. The Foothills Fine Arts Academy emphasizes a student’s special interest in art, dance, band, music or drama. Auditions are held for visual arts, dance, theater and choir, and are open to all area elementary school students in grades 5-8.

The Visual Arts department offers a wide variety of art disciplines and The Metro Arts Gallery participates four times annually in the monthly Phoenix downtown First Fridays Art Walk, where students exhibit their work.
