Business news for families

A new way to tempt your creative instincts, a contest to help you realize your financial dreams, and a new store where you could easily spend the money. This week’s headlines from local family-related businesses:

Get your fuse on

As You Wish now offers glass fusing classes that allow participants to  make vases, plates, bowls, picture frames, clocks, jewelry and more by piecing together pieces of colored glass and fitting them together to make a design. Once completed, the studio fires the work so all of the pieces fuse together. Pricing is the same as pottery painting — the regular studio fee plus your glass. Check out the As You Wish Pinterest page for glass fusing ideas.

Do you know your score?

Your consumer credit profile affects your ability to borrow and the interest rates you pay. And lenders aren’t the only ones who use credit scores to make decisions – many insurance companies, cell phone providers and landlords do, too.

To help customers know where their credit stands and how to better manage it, Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) offers a free credit score to every Wells Fargo consumer customer.

Typically, if consumers wish to check their credit score, they either pay a flat fee or they sign up for a service such as credit monitoring or identity theft protection and pay a monthly fee.

The average credit score in Phoenix is 737 and the average non-mortgage debt load is $24,952.

The bank also is launching a “Share your Goals” social media campaign and sweepstakes. Participants who visit https://shareyourgoals.wellsfargobank.com and use the #ShareYourGoals hashtag to announce their financial aspirations will be entered into a random drawing for one $10,000 prize and one of five $1,000 prizes. The promotion runs through Nov. 15. No purchase is required to enter.
