STATEWIDE – First Day Hikes

Looking to start the New Year off in good health? Take a hike! “First Day Hikes” are part of a nationwide initiative by America’s state parks to encourage people to get outdoors. On New Year’s Day, hundreds of free, guided hikes are offered around the country. For a complete listing visit americanhiking.org or azstateparks.com/fdh
Some noted First Day Hikes include:
Lost Dutchman State Park. Ranger and volunteer-led First Day Hikes on the Treasure Loop Trail. Learn about the history of Superstition Mountains and the Lost Dutchman Mine. Distances vary. 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. 480-982-4485 or azstateparks.com/lost-dutchman
Lake Havasu State Park. This “not difficult” scenic hike takes you through the Cactus Garden, with no barriers and gentle slopes. 10 a.m. Parking is $10/vehicle. 928-855-2784 or azstateparks.com/lake-havasu/
