Hometown: I was born and raised in Santa Monica, California but have lived many places in my adult life.
Number of years in the Valley:I moved to Arizona from Hawaii in 1991.
Spouse: My husband, Bruce, teaches physics at Xavier College Preparatory.
Children: Mary (14), Cory (11) and Charlie (8).
Pets: A black cat named Killer. He is 14.
When I'm not at work: I run. I started running marathons in October 2006 and I have run thirteen since then. My goal is to run a marathon in every
state. I coach a kids running team with around 75 kids. I like to tend my organic vegetable garden and spend time with my family.
Favorite food: Sweet potatoes!
Favorite things to do with my family: We love taking family vacations together. We build memories that will last a lifetime. We enjoy hiking and making up car games like Wyman Idol and Mature/Not Mature. If we can't be on vacation, we like spending time in the pool.
Favorite thing to do by myself: Run. That's also my favorite thing to do with my friends.
Most people don't know this about me: I always wanted to be a writer when I grew up.
What I love most about Arizona: The people. My running buddies and our community. We feel very blessed to be able to live here.
How I came to Raising Arizona Kids: I had an idea for an article on video games and kids. I happened to send an email on the very day that Assistant Editor Mary L. Holden was thinking she'd like to run a piece on video games.
What I love most about my job: Technology changes constantly. If you become complacent about learning something new, you're behind the curve. Being involved in the game industry gives me a connection with kids. I am "The Gamer Mom" and I can understand what the kids in the neighborhood are talking about.
