Tesseract girls basketball team takes CAA state title

Tesseract Girls Basketball ChampsMarch 8, 2010 —Tesseract School’s girls varsity basketball team took home the Charter Athletic Association (CAA) State Championship title for the Varsity B Division, wrapping up the team’s first varsity season with a record of 18-0.  "

What a great feeling—and accomplishment—it is to win a state title," said Drew Mayer, Tesseract's athletic director. "Coach Boyd did a great job, and the entire team was terrific. You don't go undefeated and win a state championship without an entire team effort on a consistent basis. I am so proud of them all for their accomplishment—it is amazing to realize that this is just our second year with a high school and only the first season we have had a varsity basketball team."

Tesseract opened its new middle and high school campus in September 2008 with its inaugural freshman class. Physical fitness and athletics, including competitive sports, have always been part of Tesseract’s "whole student" educational approach.

"The high standards set this season should create a strong work ethic for players in the upcoming seasons," noted Boyd. "Once you get a taste of being on a championship team, your thirst and drive should increase to the next level, and your mindset should be on keeping the same standards, continuing to work hard and repeating successes year in and year out. From here on out, the seasons will be building the Tesseract legacy." Learn more at tesseract.org.
