No debate about it -- these kids are gifted orators

Horizon High School's Peter Chotras has qualified for one of three spots to represent Arizona in a Lincoln Douglas-style debate to be held this June at the National Speech and Debate Tournament in Kansas City, Mo.

The Arizona 5A qualifying tournament, held March 13, drew hundreds of competitors from across the state. Other Horizon students placed in the competition: Andrew Burton placed sixth overall in poetry interpretation; Lingjin Zheng placed sixth in original oratory and Meredith Jackson is the 5A expository speaking champion.
