Join 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist Jessica Hardy as she hosts a discussion and conducts swim lessons at Aqua-Tots, 7824 N. 12th St. in Phoenix, from 6-10 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, which is National Learn to Swim Day. Statistics show that Arizona children drown at a rate nearly twice the national average. Leslie’s Pool Supplies and Swimways are celebrating National Learn to Swim Day (always the third Saturday in May) to call attention to their initiative to help keep communities and families safe around pools by using three main strategies: Learn to swim; secure the area; maintain healthy water. The holiday also launches Leslie’s, Swimway’s and Aqua-Tots’ goal of providing 2,000 children with swim lessons that might otherwise be inaccessible for financial reasons.
