Description
Scottsdale Desert Stages Theatre presents “A Christmas Story the Play” Nov. 27-Dec. 20 at Scottsdale Fashion Square. Jean Shepherd’s memoir of growing up in the midwest in the 1940s follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker on his adventurous Christmas quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the Christmas tree. Ralphie pleads his case before his mother, his teacher and even Santa Claus himself at Higbee's Department Store. The consistent response: "You'll shoot your eye out!" All the elements from the beloved motion picture are here, even Ralphie's father winning a lamp shaped like a woman's leg in a net stocking. The show will be directed by seasoned Valley actor and director, KatiBelle Collins.
Desert Stages Theatre is safely reopening with new safety policies in place. Masks will be required, enhanced cleaning and sanitation practices are in place, and fewer than 50 percent of seats will be sold for each performance to allow for socially distanced seating. 7:30 p.m. Friday, 3 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Scottsdale Desert Stages Theatre is located at 7014 E. Camelback Road, Suite 0586, Scottsdale. 480-483-1664 or desertstages.org.
