Kara G. Morrison

Position at RAK: Editor

Work background: I spent about two decades as a newspaper reporter, and I left the Arizona Republic for .

Originally from: I’m a Nebraska native (Cornhusker) married to an Ohio State Buckeye. My husband and I moved to Phoenix from Detroit in 2007.

Spouse/kids/pets: I’m married to another journalist. We have a 4-year-old daughter, Sofia, and a 10-year-old cat named Buddha.

Favorite food: Chicken tikka masala, any souffle — mostly things I’m not able to cook and probably shouldn’t be eating.

Favorite thing to do when I have some time to myself: Pinterest, (bargain) retail therapy.

Most people don’t know this about me: I grew up on a popcorn farm.

What I love most about Arizona: Desert wildflowers in early spring and the fall after scorching weather is behind us.

Last book you read, movie you liked, TV show you binge-watched: I loved “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” and revisiting that magical story — especially with Harry navigating parenthood. Most movies I get to see these days are animated. I cried through “Inside Out.”
