Our kids love anything and everything to do with rainbows. I was looking for something that at least two of my kids would enjoy doing and this rainbow craft fit the bill. It requires a little preparation, but cutting out the pot of gold was easy and took very little time.
The activity became a teachable moment when my 6-year-old, Jacob, noticed that the red line had more dots than the others. We also used the dots to practice counting by twos. He enjoyed filling in the rainbow lines but was most excited to add his own creative details once we finished the initial craft. I love what he came up with and let him narrate his little story to us.
Grace, my 3-year-old, was equally as excited to do this craft, but her rainbow was a little more free form. She still followed the lines, but her fine-motor skills are not yet as refined as her brother’s. Any activity that gives her time to practice detail work is a plus.
