From museums, zoos and indoor play places to farms, factories, mines, research labs and plenty of places you probably never thought to visit, Arizona is full of opportunities to take learning beyond the kitchen table.
Some offer special homeschool admission, designated Homeschool Days or discounted educational field trips. Others are simply really cool places to turn something you’re learning at home into a hands-on experience. Some welcome individual families, while others require a homeschool co-op or group.

Calling all future pilots! The annual Buckeye Air Fair typically kicks off with Field Trip Friday, an educational day designed for students in grades 5-12.
Students can explore aviation and aerospace careers through hands-on activities, educational booths, guest speakers and opportunities to meet pilots. Homeschool students have been able to register to participate.

This one is specifically for homeschoolers! The White Mountain Dinosaur Exploration Center offers homeschool groups hands-on field and classroom experiences with real fossils, rocks and casts.

Yes, an entire museum dedicated to dinosaur poop—and there’s actually a lot to learn! Poozeum houses thousands of authentic coprolites (fossilized poop) from dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. Kids can learn how scientists use coprolites to uncover clues about prehistoric animals and the environments they lived in, while seeing some seriously unusual fossils along the way.
Admission is FREE. There is not currently a dedicated homeschool program, but it makes a quirky addition to a paleontology, fossils or dinosaur unit—and an easy educational stop if you’re heading to Williams or the Grand Canyon.

Chuck E. Cheese Homeschool Play Day
Participating Arizona locations offer Homeschool Play Day on the second Tuesday of each month.

Discoveries in the Desert coordinates hands-on field trips specifically for homeschool families, microschools and co-ops at attractions throughout the Valley, complete with standards-aligned learning materials and organized group experiences.
Community Discovery Programs are open to individual families, and custom programs are available for homeschool co-ops and microschools. Programs are designed primarily for Pre-K through eighth grade and are ESA/ClassWallet eligible. Fourth graders — including homeschool fourth-grade equivalents — can get a FREE annual pass to more than 2,000 participating federal recreation sites.
At sites that charge by vehicle, the pass generally covers everyone in one private vehicle. At per-person sites, it covers the fourth grader, children under 16 and up to three adults.

While GetOutPass isn’t specifically a homeschool program, it can be a great option for homeschool families who love field trips — especially if you have multiple kids!
The annual Arizona pass includes admission and offers to participating attractions, entertainment venues and family activities throughout the state. Depending on the current lineup, participating attractions can include trampoline parks, museums, bowling, mini golf, water parks, sporting events, indoor play places and more.

Any day can be a homeschool day at your local library — and most of it is completely FREE.
Arizona libraries offer much more than books. Depending on your local branch, you’ll find baby and toddler storytimes, preschool activities, LEGO clubs, arts and crafts, STEAM and science programs, coding and technology classes, book clubs, teen programs, homework help, maker spaces, special performances and educational events throughout the year.
And don’t forget to check what’s included with your library card. Many libraries provide free access to digital books, audiobooks, research databases, language-learning programs, educational resources and other tools you can use from home.
