Dani Horn is a staff write at Raising Arizona Kids and a mother of two.

Position at RAK: Staff Writer/Research Assistant

Work background/academic background: 2016 journalism graduate from Glendale Community College.

Number of years in the Valley: I was born and raised right here in the Valley, so I’ve been here for 33 years!

Spouse/significant other, kids, pets: I have a fantastic boyfriend named Damian, an awesome daughter named Victoria Deven, born in 2006, and rockin’ son named Remy James, born in 2009. I also have a stubborn 6-year-old female Siberian Husky named Sapphire.

Favorite food: Ice-cold shrimp cocktail with eye-wateringly spicy cocktail sauce.

Favorite thing to do when I have some time to myself: In the rare event that I get an hour or two to myself, I love to read, listen to music or to go thrift-store shopping.

Most people don’t know this about me: I’ve seen about 100 live bands and musicians at numerous music concerts and festivals across the Southwest since 1995.

What I love most about Arizona: I love that Arizona surprises people who are from other states. We are expected to be all about cowboys, tumbleweeds and cacti but we have so much more to offer.

How I came to RAK: I interned here for my last semester and then was hired on right after graduation.

What I love most about my job: As a journo newbie, being around and learning from super accomplished women in my field.

Last book you read, movie you liked, TV show you binge-watched: I am a full-fledged “Game of Thrones” book fan. I have only watched the first two seasons of the show for fear of spoiling the books for myself. My absolute favorite TV show is “Silicon Valley” on HBO.
