Chandler families are launching Backyard Kickball, a new nonprofit youth league focused on fun, teamwork, and low-pressure recreational play. The inaugural Spring season begins April 11 at Tumbleweed Park.

Backyard Kickball is a nonprofit, parent-founded league created by Chandler families who wanted to offer kids a positive, low-pressure way to play sports. The idea began when founder Scott Smith asked his 8-year-old son what sport he wanted to play — and he said kickball. What started as a simple idea has grown into a new community league designed to give kids a place to play, build confidence, and enjoy being part of a team. As a nonprofit program, registration fees help cover field use, equipment, and league operations, with the goal of keeping youth sports accessible and community-focused for local families.
