50th Anniversary Celebration of Apollo 11. Arizona Science Center celebrates one of the greatest human achievements in science: the 50th anniversary of man’s first steps on the moon on July 16, 1969! The science center’s Saturday celebration asks what’s next in innovation and exploration through a fun-filled day for the entire family. $18; $13 ages 3-7; free for ages 2 and younger. azscience.org
Details: The celebration includes hands-on activities, demonstrations, theater shows, and planetarium presentations. The Science Center's Blue Crew hosts activities and demos on solar art, a Space Guess Quest, pocket solar systems, gravity well, dry ice comets, impact craters and Stomp Rockets. The Irene P. Flinn Giant Screen Theater is screening Apollo 11: First Steps Edition. And local technology and aerospace partners including The Boeing Company, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, National Space Society of Phoenix, Siemens, and others will be onhand.
