Newsies (Jan. 10-12). Extra! Extra! Detour Company Theatre presents Disney’s uplifting musical set in turn-of-the century New York City “newsies.” Detour Company Theatre provides theater training and performance experiences for adults with cognitive and physical disabilities, giving them authentic opportunities to develop artistry, demonstrate courage and experience joy collaborating with the community. The story follows Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of other teenage “newsies.” When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike. 1 p.m. Friday; 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
