SCOTTSDALE – Rainforest Birds exhibit at Butterfly Wonderland
Location
Butterfly Wonderland
9500 Via de Ventura
Scottsdale, AZ
Description
Butterfly Wonderland's new Rainforest Birds exhibit features more than a dozen varieties of colorful, tropical birds, some that that perch in aviaries for an up-close look and others that take flight freely inside the Butterfly Conservatory.
Species in the aviaries include Guianan Toucanet, Bearded Barbet, Venezuelan Troupial, Spangled Cotinga, and Guianan Red Cotinga. The free-flying species include Paradise Tanagers, Owl Finches, Diamond Firetail Finches, Shaft-tail Finches, Red-legged Honeycreepers, an Orange Cheeked Waxbill Finch, Mannakin Finch, and Black-capped Waxbill. Don't worry — the free-flying birds are not interested in consuming butterflies!
Butterfly Wonderland reopened to the public on May 21, following a two-month closure due to the coronavirus pandemic. Timed ticket entry limits the number of visitors in the attraction at one time, and new standard operating procedures have been implemented to safeguard guests, animals, and team members. Some of those new measures include social distancing markers at exhibits, additional hand sanitizing stations throughout the building, and enhanced cleaning methods that focus on high-touch areas including restrooms, counters, and exhibit glass. Team members at Butterfly Wonderland are required to wear facial masks. Butterfly Wonderland also requires all guests over the age of 6 to wear masks. Tickets are $24.95 at walk-up; save $2 by purchasing online.
