My relationship (no, make that love affair) with the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach started about five years ago when I was introduced to the resort on a “fam” (get familiar with the property) trip.
Since then, I have had the pleasure of being invited back to this paradise by my good friend Toni Purry, (Purry Communications Group). Last weekend was one of those times.
Anytime you can leave Phoenix in June is good — but knowing you are staying across the street from the beach (literally, there is a bridge that takes you across PCH from the resort to the beach) is best.
There is always something going on at the Hyatt, so we were not surprised to learn that there was going to be a Sunset Splash Concert that night at Mankota’s pool. They host this FREE concert the third Friday of each month in the summer (May-August) and invite the whole community (not just guests) to attend.

K-EARTH the local hip radio station provided the tunes in between sets of the band, Stone Soul. These guys were amazing! I truly have never heard a cover band that sounded this awesome. It was so fun to see people of all ages dancing, hanging out with their friends and family – surf instructor extraordinaire from Toes on the Noes Charlos, was even giving surf lessons in the pool!,

Also on hand were massage therapists from the Pacific Waters Spa giving complimentary chair massages. Perfect! We also, feasted on what seemed like never-ending plates of nachos (thanks, Toni!), samples of gelato and the signature s’mores kits (cute boxes with graham crackers, marshmallows and Hershey bars tucked inside). After the drive, chair massage, wine, full tummy and good company, I was ready to call it an evening!

We retired to our room and were able to catch the last few moments of Toy Story that was playing at the Slyders pool dive-in movie from our balcony. We all fell asleep to the ocean air and the hum of traffic from Pacific Coast Highway.
