National Teacher Appreciation Day, also known as National Teacher Day, is celebrated on Tuesday of the first full week in May. It’s part of Teacher Appreciation Week, which is the first full week in May of each year.

Free family fun pass

Teachers who stop in to As You Wish Pottery Painting Place stores across metro Phoenix May 6-10 will get a free Family Fun Pass with a valid school ID. The punch cards offer free studio fees for eight painting sessions!

Free and discounted food

• Valley Pei Wei restaurants are celebrating teachers and school faculty with 33 percent off regular entrées through Friday, May 10. Simply show your Teacher ID or Faculty ID to your cashier upon ordering to get this deal.
• Chompie’s — with five locations in metro Phoenix — will give educators 20 percent off an entrée when they show a school ID at the register May 6-10.
• Teachers can stop by Organ Stop Pizza in Mesa from 5-8 p.m. May 6-10 to get to get a free dine-in pizza (any size pizza, no limit on toppings). Recipients must be Arizona K-12 teachers and show a valid school ID. Simply working at a school does not qualify. Organ Stop Pizza is at 1149 E.
