The coronavirus (COVID-19) is prompting governments and health care agencies around the world to recommend social distancing at a minimum. Families are also being encouraged to stay home if possible. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Arizona Department of Health Services recommend avoiding gatherings of 50 or more people.
All schools in Arizona are closed through March 27. Phoenix libraries and recreation centers are also closed temporarily. And nearly every large event or performance has been canceled. Yet, staying at home can get pretty boring, pretty fast for families with kids. Common Sense Media has curated several online resources to help during this unpredictable time.
While the obvious concern is the transmission of the virus, we know that families also are worried about how to best talk with their kids, as well as keeping them engaged, entertained and learning. Here’s help.
